So you want to be a (better) coach?

There were three groups of people who attended the session which formed these goals:
- Those that work with an Agile coach and want to understand more about the role
- Those that are interested in becoming an Agile coach and want to learn from others their experiences
- Those that are a existing Agile coach and are looking for ways to improve what they do
We started with an exercise in which we broke up into three teams. Each team has 5 minutes to brainstorm on a topic, then the teams rotated to the other topics. If a team came to a topic that others have done, their job was to add or improve what had already been included.
The topics were:
- What are the RESPONSIBILITIES of a coach? In other words, "What they do?"
- What are the ATTRIBUTES of a coach? In other words, "Who they are?"
- What QUESTIONS or CHALLENGES do you have around coaching? In other words, "What puzzles you?"
Here is what the group came up with. For the last category, the entire group had to choose their top 5 questions/challenges.

We reviewed some of the responsibilities and attributes, then focused mainly on the questions/challenges.
During the discussion, Chris Sims came up and talked with the group about the Satir Model. Here is a picture of it:

This turned out to be a great framework to discuss the areas of discussion, as it is the coach's job to help people through this cycle.
